“Dhanvi has been amazing us with her talents since she was just 18 months old, from singing Disney tunes and crafting little artworks with her tiny hands to growing into the bright, curious almost 7-year-old she is today. Whether she’s sharing fun facts about space, animals, or gemstones, introducing us to new ideas, or inventing her own dance moves and songs, she fills our days with wonder. Each moment with her brings sparkles of creativity, joy, and the most beautiful smiles to our faces.” – Pavi, Dhanvi’s Mother

When did you start loving to draw or paint?

“My love for art began at age 3 with simple projects alongside my dad and mom. Inspired by my brother’s animal drawings, I started with scribbles and handmade cards. Now, creating beautiful art with Ms. Nimmy, my journey as an artist has just begun.”

It’s beautiful to see how family can spark a child’s passion so early. We love that her brother inspired her, it shows how creativity can spread and grow within a home.

What do you do for fun besides art?

“Besides art, I have a long list of things I love, one of my favorites is playing with my sisters and brother. I enjoy reading about space, numbers, plants, animals, and Indian mythology. I also love dancing Bharatanatyam and ballet, playing piano, singing, and learning Carnatic music. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with creating new dance moves with my friends!”

That’s a well-rounded young soul! It’s inspiring to see a child so involved in arts, academics, and culture. She’s learning so much while having fun.

How do you feel after finishing an art project?

“I get so excited to see how my artwork turns out each week! My parents and family always look forward to what I create, and their excitement means a lot to me. Learning new skills with Ms. Nimmy makes me feel proud, and art truly makes me feel special.”

We believe this kind of encouragement from loved ones builds not just confidence, but a lifelong love for learning. Her joy is truly contagious.

Who do you like to show your art to at home?

“I love showing my finished art to my mom and dad first, their faces light up when they see it! My sisters are always excited to look at my artwork, and I enjoy teaching them what I’ve learned in class, just like Ms. Nimmy teaches me. I also share my creations with my grandparents, aunt, and uncle, and I love hearing all their kind compliments.”

We absolutely love how Dhanvi isn’t just making art, she’s spreading it. Sharing knowledge at such a young age is incredible!

What was your favorite Summer Art Camp project, and why?

“There’s so much I loved about my summer art camp! My favorites were experimenting with watercolor techniques like wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry and using them to paint fun things like popsicles. I especially enjoyed creating SpongeBob with watercolors, an astronaut with pastels, and a bonsai tree with acrylics. I love how watercolor blends so softly on paper, it’s like painting with clouds! Watching the colors move with the water is so much fun. I also enjoy using oil pastels, but watercolor feels extra magical.”

That description melted us! “painting with clouds” perfectly captures the magic of watercolor. I think every adult artist would agree!

What is your favorite art medium in the class?

“Acrylics!! I’m obsessed! I love mixing colors and creating new shades. Ms. Nimmy always lets us choose our own colors, which makes each of my art pieces feel unique. I’m so excited to learn more acrylic painting techniques in this class!”

Giving little artists freedom to explore is such a great teaching approach. No wonder she’s thriving!

If you could paint your favorite thing in this world, what would it be?

“I would love to make a bunnies family and a magical unicorn flying over a rainbow castle. There would be stars, sparkles, and cotton candy clouds. The unicorn would have rainbow wings and shiny hair. It would look like a dream!”

This is exactly what childhood should feel like—pure magic, endless imagination, and unfiltered joy.

What would you like to improve in your art classes?

“I am enjoying each class and learning so much detail in art. I want to get better at drawing people and faces. I also want to learn more about mixing colors to make new ones.”

We admire her mindset. Even while having fun, she’s thinking about how to grow and get better.

What’s your advice for little artists who are just starting their art journey?

“Have fun and don’t worry about making mistakes. Try new things and use all your favorite colors. Keep practicing and enjoy every picture you make. Every artist starts by just trying!”

Sometimes the best advice comes from the youngest voices. This is something even adult artists should remember.
